What Is TB-500?
TB-500 is a synthetic version of Thymosin Beta-4 — a naturally occurring peptide found in virtually all human and animal cells. Thymosin Beta-4 plays a role in cell migration, tissue regeneration, angiogenesis, and inflammation regulation. TB-500 is a fragment of this molecule that retains much of its biological activity while being more practical to synthesize.
Potential Effects
Tissue Repair and Regeneration
Thymosin Beta-4 is involved in actin regulation — actin being a protein critical to cell structure and movement. By promoting cell migration to sites of injury, TB-500 appears to accelerate the early stages of tissue repair across multiple tissue types, including muscle, tendon, ligament, skin, and cardiac tissue.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects
TB-500 has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties in multiple animal studies, reducing markers of inflammation at injury sites without the broad immunosuppression associated with corticosteroids. For GLP-1 users also doing resistance training, reduced exercise-induced inflammation could support faster recovery between sessions.
Cardiovascular Effects
Thymosin Beta-4 has been studied in the context of cardiac repair after heart attack, with some animal research suggesting it promotes the regeneration of heart muscle cells. This research is still early-stage but has attracted significant interest from cardiovascular medicine researchers.
July 2026 FDA Regulatory Update
FDA Advisory Committee Vote — July 23–24, 2026: The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) voted this week to recommend that TB-500 be added to the Section 503A Bulk Drug Substances List, which would allow state-licensed compounding pharmacies to prepare it for patients with a valid prescription. The vote passed narrowly (approximately 8–6), against the FDA's own scientific staff recommendation. Important: This recommendation is advisory and non-binding. The FDA must still finalize a formal rule — a process expected to take six months to a year or more, meaning TB-500 remains not legal to compound or sell for human use at this time. The current legal status has not changed. The vote is an early but meaningful step in the regulatory process; watch for FDA rulemaking updates in late 2026 or 2027.
The BPC-157 + TB-500 Stack
The most common way TB-500 is used is alongside BPC-157. The two peptides appear to work through complementary mechanisms — BPC-157 through angiogenesis and growth factor upregulation, TB-500 through cell migration and inflammation modulation. This combination is one of the most commonly reported for injury recovery or to support training alongside GLP-1 therapy.
